My wife Mara and I got married last month (once in New York and again in Hong Kong), and after tying the knot twice, we figured some rest and relaxation would be well-deserved! We flew from Hong Kong to Bali and were picked up by the wonderful driver from our resort, Nata, for the 90 minute drive to our secluded destination on the black sand beaches of the southwestern shore of the island.
We stayed for 5 days and 4 nights at Alila Villas Soori, the newest of four Alila Villas properties on the island of Bali. The location is far from the hustle and bustle of Kuta and Seminyak, the most popular and trafficked areas on the island, though we did take a day trip to Ubud and the rice terraces of Tegallalang. Given that there are just under 50 private villas on the entire resort, at any given time there are no more than 100 guests at Soori, which was a welcomed respite from the craziness of New York City and Hong Kong!
The luxuriousness and service here was incomparable -- neither Mara nor I have ever experienced anything like it. The private villas all have their own swimming pool along with jawdropping views, the food is fantastic, and every staff member greets you by name. It's a bit difficult to do the place justice with only words, so I'll let the photos speak for themselves. I hope you enjoy them as much as I do!
