Last week, one of my best friends in New York City (and roommate for three years) Matt got married to the love of his life Halley Anne at Riverside Church, which I recently learned is the tallest church in the United States! I did not actually shoot the wedding since I was a groomsman, but I did have the pleasure of shooting the surprise proposal on my old D90 at Riverside nearly a year ago, which I'm posting today in honor of the wedding. For the proposal, Matt and I conspired with Riverside’s organist, Christopher Johnson, who Matt had enlisted to play a few of Halley Anne’s favorite Edward Elgar pieces before he dropped down on one knee to pop the question.
Riverside's main sanctuary, where Matt and Halley Anne were married, is perhaps one of the most beautiful wedding venues I have ever been in. I did manage to snap a picture of the sanctuary right before the ceremony (see below), so you can judge for yourself!
Matt and Halley Anne, you guys are off frolicking on your honeymoon now, and I hope you're enjoying the sunshine and not reading this blog post -- but in case you are, congratulations again. I'm so happy for you two!
And now for the engagement from last October...
