My friends Klarissa and Stephen are getting married next summer in the Bay Area, where they're both from, but they couldn't stand the thought of waiting all the way until 2014 to tie the knot. As a result, they decided to do a small, private ceremony for their families at City Hall earlier this month in New York City, where they both currently live.
I began the day shooting at Klarissa's Hell's Kitchen apartment and also served double duty, helping Stephen with bowtie-tying in addition to photography before we all headed downtown with her parents. It was about as rainy of a day as I can remember since Hurricane Sandy, so it was definitely a challenge for all of us that day as we navigated a very rainy New York City.
With all that said, the paperwork and City Hall ceremony went off without a hitch, and we headed to Grand Central Terminal for a quick post-ceremony shoot before heading to 53rd and 6th for... you guessed it -- chicken and rice! Instead of a wedding cake this go-around, K&S ended up eating in legit NYC fashion, with a platter from the best halal cart in the whole city.
The day closed with a wonderful dinner in the West Village and celebratory drinks before we all bid the newly-married couple adieu. Congratulations, Klarissa and Stephen!
