Late in November, my friend Bren called me up and asked if I might be able to take photos for the proposal he was planning for his girlfriend Austin. I was quite busy with work at the time, but everything managed to work out, and I was able to shoot the engagement festivities in early December!
The plan was to pop the question during the intermission of the New York City Ballet's production The Nutcracker, on the portico of the theater facing the Lincoln Center fountain. I arrived at the theater a little bit early, and was escorted by the house manager to the portico level, where I waited for intermission.
Before I knew it, folks began streaming out, and I packed up and began shooting randomly on the portico while keeping an eye on Bren and Austin. Soon I was just a few yards away, and when Bren reached into his jacket, I knew we were on! I'll let the pictures do the talking from here, but before I sign off -- congratulations, Austin and Bren. So happy for you two!
